A TRIBUTE TO MUM

I'm sure you will all agree Mum was an amazing woman. Throughout her life she touched so many hearts with her friendly and caring personality, always thinking of others before herself. Mum was very family orientated, she certainly loved a good party and we often spoke about the memories we had. I would just like to share a few........ As children she used to ask us to pop to the shop to get her a quarter of black currant and liquorice, along with a list of a few other things!! On the way back we would each take one for ourselves, only two but when we got back as soon as she had the sweets she knew there was some missing!!! Also we used to tickle Mums feet which she hated us doing, she would get really mad at us in the midst of screaming and laughing at us, we would push our luck and tear her tights too!!! But that's Mum, a very Patient Mother who let kids be kids. Years ago when she was on crutches she must have thought she was invincible, like when she used to run into the road holding her sticks in the air, stopping the traffic so we all could cross, I'm sure she should have been a lollipop lady really and when we would be approaching a snake like in Blackpool, or Skegness she would know where it was before we could even see it and just disappear before we had finished out sentence, to then turn around and notice she had gone across the road. When we went to bingo together whether it was Meir Club or anywhere else, when she won she would shout house and everyone would copy her because her style was to shout hooooouse which embarrassed me no end. Mum always looked forward to our holidays at Butlins for the bingo, meeting up with friends old and new. As we always say her quote is 'whats ya name and where dya come from.' One of my favourite memories was when we managed to get her on a ride or two, as she hated heights or fast rides, one occasion she went on the big wheel with my sister Julie and she had to get off cause her eyes were rolling to the back of her head. Another time we convinced her to get on the dragon ride, which we told her was known as the slow dragon, so after a lot of persuasion she did, so on we went and she screamed that much her teeth fell out and the ride operator had to fetch them, one of the few times actually that I saw Mum embarrassed. At the beginning of her illness Mum carried on as normal, we rented a scooter at Butlins as she was told not to do too much but as usual Mum didn't listen. On our nights out at Butlins we would get our seats for the night with our stock of beer and Mum would be in the arcade playing the machines, when we were running low we would send Mum a text for our order of more beers and she would appear after 10 minutes of the text with a basket full of beer on her scooter. Always willing that was Mum. Even towards the end of her battle with pancreatic cancer after they told her she just had a few weeks left,Mum was still set on not letting it beat her. She told me she was worried about passing away because of upsetting everyone, even though when she said it, looking into her eyes I could tell she was in agonizing pain. But that was Mum, courageous til the end. She overcome every prognosis given to her the first in May 2010 which was 9-11 months and many more after that too, but she fought with courage and dignity. Her proudest moments were seeing us all happy and getting along, and I'm so very proud to say that she was my Mum and shared all my special moments in life big and small. Even on my hen party in Stoke she helped us to bed, well mainly one of us! Just to end she asked for people not to be upset, but to remember with a smile, the memories you have with her. Til we meet again she is a free spirit now and I hope yoy will share a spirit or two with her. Love Always and Forever xxx
